Feathery Apple Quest? Nope. Frequently Asked Questions.
Cambridge Wedding Photographer
How would you describe your style?
Natural, Documentary Style, well lit with muted tones
My style is lovely and natural, or in other words "bright | beautiful | authentic". Bright by utilising natural light as the events of your day unfold whilst also using a bit of flash to "bounce" off the ceilings. This helps me make sure you are captured as "beautifully" as possible. And authentic, I really want to work with you to help you have the most fun time as possible! I don't want to choreograph every photograph but to catch things naturally! You're there to enjoy yourself, right? I like to give you prompts on the couple shoot however my style is very natural!
What about editing?
Muted tones, gentle retouching, modern signature style
I used to be a fashion photographer and can do some literally insane things in Photoshop. I even put the face of Voldemort on a photo of a seagull, to show how nasty seagulls are when you have a bag of chips. (Check out the second photo, I photographed Ryo Love in the studio, then snapped the background, and superimposed her on it!)
We love natural photos, but would you take a few arranged group photos?
Give me a list of 50 group shots, and I will run a mile. (joking!) Chat to me about the few group photos you would like me to get, however (10 max!) and I will be more than happy to capture these for you. Some photographers shoot absolutely no group photos, some shoot loads, I don't mind a handful. A typical list would look a bit like this:
Do you offer any other products we can buy with our photos?
Wall Products | Albums | Prints | Mini Albums
Wall Products start from £109.99 at 10x8" (all the way up to 60x40") (pictured)
Wedding Albums from £500 (including 100 of your favourite images) (pictured)
Bespoke Box of 50 prints with USB drive £300 complete with your wedding photos (pictured)
These all come in a variety of styles - just ask me to bring them to the consultation, and you can see some samples for yourself!
How many photographs do we get from our wedding?
Every wedding is different, you already know that, you have probably been to a few! Some weddings I shoot over 2000 images and refine it down to 400. For others, there are so many unique things going on I can't help but give even more!
When do you start and finish the photography?
From bridal prep through to about 30 minutes into dancing
Sometimes a wedding ceremony will start at 3pm, other times it's 12pm, every wedding is different! Typically I begin with the bride-to-be as she prepares with her best friends, meanwhile my second shooter usually begins at the ceremony venue to capture photos before everybody has arrived. In terms of when we leave it is usually half an hour into dancing, however sometimes couples pay slightly extra to have us stay all the way through to when they exit the venue in a special way (horse and carriage, sparklers, fireworks!).
What about Covid-19?
Send help sweet Jesus.
In your wedding contract, I outline what happens in certain heartbreaking eventualities.
Lastly, if the wedding has to be cancelled and no date is planned for the future, I retain the deposit. Please note that the deposit is non-refundable if the date is changed by the clients for a reason other than Covid-19 government lockdown and the photographer is not available for the proposed new date.
How much is the deposit?
Depending on the size of the invoice, it is 40%.
For example, if you book me for a basic wedding in 2021, the invoice will be £1,400, and therefore the deposit is £560. It's as simple as that! This is helpful because when the two-week deadline comes round for the remainder of the invoice, the couple only has to settle the remaining 60%.
... and are you insured?
I am insured with the brilliant company Hiscox Insurance. Public Liability & Contents Insurance - everything I need as a wedding photographer!
Do you have back up equipment in case of kit failure?
Yes I do!
I have 2 cameras on a striking set of holsters so if one dies (Lord forbid) I would shoot the rest of the wedding on the other. Should the backup break (please no), I always have a second shooter where we would use their camera bodies to shoot the remainder of the wedding.
How do we access our photographs?
Digital download via the Tom Keenan Photography website.
It's a relatively simple step by step process. I create a gallery for you on my website, the top right corner indicates a "select" option, "select all" and then "download".
How long will it take after our wedding day to receive the photos?
I'll be honest with you, on average it's about 2 weeks, but just in case anything comes up I tend to say 4 weeks and then it's an added bonus if I turn it round even quicker!
You seem super friendly, what have other people said about your work?
Well, thank you very much, I'm blushing.
Google has some great reviews of my work, and you can read longer reviews on my reviews page right here! Here's one from Sam & Madeline:
"Thank you so much, Tom and Beth! They are amazing professional wedding photographers who made the whole experience a joy. Communication from the start was fantastic, Tom got to know what we were looking for from our day and any special requirements we needed with a friendly informal meet up beforehand. On the day, it was great to have both Tom and Beth with us at our wedding, they operated with discretion when needed but also directed large group shots with ease.
The end results are stunning and document the journey of our day beautifully, we would highly recommend Tom's services to any couple looking for a friendly and highly skilled Kent wedding photographer."
Can we meet you before we book you?
We can have a chat on FaceTime / WhatsApp / Zoom!
If I met with every enquiry in person, I would be a very busy man! Most people are happy to book me based on what they have seen by my website and social media platforms (I go LIVE quite regularly!) but others request a video call to ask any questions.
How far are you able to travel?
Cambridge & Kent are normal for me.
I charge standard mileage rates for any journey further than 30 miles from Hardwick. Although destination weddings are fashionable, they aren't for me - I can certainly recommend destination photographers for you if you are searching for one!
But what if it rains!?
Just joking! We still have fun!
At the pre-wedding consultation, we discuss a plan-b for places to shoot should this happen. After shooting so many sunny weddings, there have certainly been some rainy ones! Including our own wedding! As long as you get married and have fun with your friends and family, then I can do my job rain or shine.
And what if you're ill!?
We cry, again.
All of these eventualities are discussed at the pre-wedding consultation and written in the contract. It is standard that when you book me, I have a second shooter. Suppose I am too unwell to photograph the day, the second shooter will shoot the wedding on his/her own, and you will receive a mini wedding album with 100 of your favourite images and 25% off any additional products. If both photographers are too ill to work, I will attempt to book a replacement photographer. Finally, if a replacement cannot be found, then liability is limited to a full refund of any payments received.
I don't want to ask... But what if we cancel the wedding?
Wow, we went there.
In the event of the wedding being cancelled by any circumstance, the booking fee of 40% is non-refundable.
Would you like us to feed you?
I mean, who doesn't want to be fed?
Like many things, we discuss this at the pre-wedding consultation. My wife and I both have a vegan diet; however, we totally understand that you're feeding a bunch of other people! We would love if you provided food for us, but we are also fully prepared to pack ourselves a lunch to get stuck into during a "lull" in the day like when everybody else eats!
Are you available for our date?
I sure hope so!
I update my availability regularly, so do keep an eye on it here. Can I encourage you? Don't hang about if you know I'm the photographer that you want to book. I only do so many weddings a year, and I would hate for you to miss out!
